GreenUP and B!KE are looking for a enthusiastic and organized cyclist, to
deliver cycling education to school aged chil
dren and families. As a Cycling
Program Lead Instructor, you will deliver Pedal Power and Bike Rodeos through
the spring, and offer family cycling courses and events through the summer.
These programs are offered at Peterborough schools as well as in the community
at large. We cover topics including helmet fit, bike maintenance, rules of the
road, bike handling skills and traffic safety. As much as possible we deliver
our programs with all participants on bikes. As our Cycling Program Lead
Instructor it would be your responsibility to deliver a variety of cycling
programs in a way that is fun, accessible, and safe.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver cycling skills and safety curriculum to elementary students and
families
• Maintain a positive learning environment outside, on bikes, with a group of
children
• Provide motivation and constructive feedback to students
• Plan and implement family cycling events
• Be aware of health and safety procedures and implement them during programs
• Build strong relationships with local schools and community partners
• Assist with conducting program evaluations
• Prepare program assessments and reports
• Additional duties as required
Qualifications:
• Experience teaching groups and individuals
• Experience working with children (ages 8+)
• Confident bicycle rider with demonstrable riding competence
• Enthusiastic about cycling, and has an understanding of cycling as a sport,
form of transportation, recreational pursuit and healthy form of exercise
• Able to work effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public
• Organized, punctual, and pro-active
• Must have a bicycle and wear a helmet at programs
• Up-to-date Criminal Records and Vulnerable Sector Check, is required
