leadership and representation in decision-making proce

Sector by addressing both strategic and practical issues that hinder women’s
progress”.
Geographically,
the project will cover Districts of the Eastern Province i.e. Nyagatare,
Bugesera and Rwamagana Districts. In each of these districts, the project will
work in 1 farm.

Job Summary
The
RWN Advocacy and Communication Officer responsible for the Women Leadership
Project in Nyagatare, Bugesera and Rwamagana Districts is responsible for the
coordination, monitoring and implementation of all activities related to the
project at the District level and national level.

The
Advocacy and Communication Officer is responsible to coordinate and implement
activities in the following ways: –

- In
collaboration with management, develop annual, quarterly and monthly plans
including, training calendar, resource materials, etc. - Design
and implement appropriate strategies and plans to strengthen the
leadership skills of women farm workers - Lead
in organizing and conducting of special events related to the project
intervention - Provide
strategic analysis and background for the development of policies relevant
to the project objective e.g. gender responsive and decent work policies
and practices - Organizing
the efforts of RWN’s advocacy work e.g. developing policy proposals and
advocating for them in conjunction with allies; - In
collaboration with management, communicating with and briefing policy makers
and other stakeholders - Coordinating
with RWN’s senior staff and contributing to the organization’s overall
planning and accountability systems
- Contribute
to the development and adaptation of project resource materials e.g.
training modules, guides, etc. - Provide
corrective and supportive feedback to trained women resource persons
within the farms - Meet
regularly and discuss with management on issues which require to be
adressed - Engage
or support in engaging suitable resource persons for training - Preparing
materials and logistics for trainings and workshops and other needs

The
Advocacy and Communication Officer will be based in Kigali but with regular
travel to the field to implement the Women Leadership project activities in
Nyagatare, Bugesera and Rwamagana Districts.

Qualifications and competencies
Qualifications and competencies
- Rwandan
Nationality; - Minimum
3 years work experience with NGOs in gender and women empowerment related
and interventions; - A
minimum of three (3) years’ of advocacy and training experience in the
areas mentioned above; - Strong
leadership, participatory/capacity-building and training skills, policy
analysis and advocacy; - Experience
and comfortable in communicating with policy makers; - Experience
in coalition building and working in a team environment; - Ability
to communicate complex information clearly in writing and in oral
presentations to a range of audiences; - Strong
organizational and interpersonal skills; - Fluent
in Kinyarwanda, English or French; - Bachelor
(A0) or higher Degree in a related field preferred.
