FORUM FOR ALTERNATIVE TRADE, in short “RWAFAT” is looking for a highly skilled
agricultural officer with a strong background in research and project
management for an initial period of 12 months, extendible depending on future
funding and performance.

We
are a Rwandan non-profit membership organization open to all producer groups
registered in any form but committed to the promotion of the fair trade
principles. Our projects are implemented in four provinces of Rwanda but the
majority of members are located in the Northern Province.

The
Agricultural Officer will take a hands on position in the implementation of our
fair trade agricultural activities. He/she will also support the overall
activities and growth of the organization in line with the our vision and
mission laid out in the 2017-2027 strategic plan. He/she will humbly serve our
members and will be representing the organization at different levels of
society. Fair trade principles are the backbone of our organization and should
be upheld in truth and heart at all times.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

- Perform
qualitative and quantitative research on the agricultural sector in Rwanda
and EA community - Perform impact
studies and assessments, including the development of evaluation criteria,
on potential agricultural fair trade sectors in Rwanda - Design and
implement new concepts and approaches for the organization - Draft concept
notes - Research and
advice on the potential of a RWAFAT Certification body - Built and
strengthen a network for the organization in the agricultural sector - Built and
strengthen the membership of agricultural organizations of RWAFAT
b.Organizational
support and general activities
support and general activities
- Assist in tasks
pertaining to the day to day management of the organization - Assist in the
financial management of the organization - Assist in the
reporting requirements of the organization - Assist in
fundraising activities and proposal writing - Learn about, and
if necessary, take part in activities from Rwafat in the fair trade
handcraft sector - Assist in the
general Learning, Monitoring and Evaluation activities of the organizatio
III.Qualifications,
Knowledge & Experience
Knowledge & Experience
- Bachelor degree
in Agriculture or related field, Master degree preferred. - No work
experience required, 3 years preferred - Strong research
skills and analytical capacity (proof of written dissertations, thesis,
scientific articles is an added advantage) - Experience and
knowledge of project management preferred - Excellent oral
and written communication skills in Kinyarwanda and English (French is an
added advantage) - Solid computer
skills: MS Office applications, adobe and internet.IV.Personal

travel, mainly in Rwanda - Able to work
