Rwanda Diabetes Association (RDA) is a
non-governmental organization created in 1997 to raise awareness about diabetes
in Rwanda and improve the social welfare of people affected by diabetes and
their families’ members. Our mission is to provide diabetes care, promote
diabetes prevention in Rwanda, support diabetics and their families and join
the global effort to advocate for diabetics. During the last 20 years, the RDA,
together with our national and international partners, dispensed care to
diabetics within our clinic and public hospitals, provided information on
diabetes management, trained health professionals, advocated for diabetics in
Rwanda and abroad, advocated for innovations in diabetes treatment, created
networks between diabetes care stakeholders, and connected Rwandans with
diabetes throughout the country.

Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of bookkeeping duties such
as generating and recording all general ledger journal entries, monthly close
out, producing financial reports and advise the executive director in financial
decision making.

- Accurate
and timely completion of general accounting functions, such as;
preparation and recording of general journal entries, balancing of general
ledger and subsidiary journals, and preparation of invoices and various
reports. - Ensure
that all financial transactions and reporting procedures are compliant
with the specific financial requirements of project donors. - Compiles
a variety of financial data and reports. - Prepare
tax payments, estimating and tracking tax returns and Complete regular tax
reports - Document
financial transactions by entering account information. - Prepare
payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements. - Participate
in budget/forecast preparation; prepare budget reports. - Review
general ledger account coding. - Perform
monthly reconciliation’s of all cash accounts and bank balances. - Secure
financial information by completing data base backups. - Perform
other related duties as assigned by the supervisor
Required
skills and qualifications:

- Bachelor’s
Degree in Accounting with significant experience working within a similar
position. In addition, the candidate must have A2 diploma in Accounting - Professional
knowledge and qualifications in financial management and accounting. - Experience-
4 years in managing the overall accounts of an organisation. - Computer
skills and master of Microsoft office programs (Excel, Word,
Powerpointetc) - A
collaborative team player; - Culturally
aware and respectful – curious and sensitive about the cultures in which
we operate; - Ability
to work effectively in multicultural teams with varying expertise, skills
and backgrounds; - Adaptable
– able to work in complex, unfamiliar and changing environments; - Resourceful,

in English and Kinyarwanda is required.
