Title: Assistant SSF/ Malaria Project Officer

Background
Rwanda Development Organization (RDO) is a local Non-Governmental Organization founded by Rwandans in 1995 as a non-profit-making organization with no affiliation of any kind.
In partnership with MOH, through the SSF Malaria project, RDO contributes to the national effort of fighting malaria through Behavior Change Communication (BCC) approach as a preventive method. SSF/Malaria project is implemented by RDO in seven districts of the Eastern province and was designed to generate at least 90% coverage of Long Lasting Impregnated Nets (LLINS) particularly in the population at high risk (Pregnant women and children under five). In partnership with other stakeholders, RDO organizes mass campaigns to raise awareness on Malaria prevention and control though different channels.
Duties and responsibilities
The candidate will discharge his/her duties within RDO and will be under the supervision of SSF Malaria project Officer with an overall guidance of the RDO Executive Secretary in accordance with his/her contractual obligations with the organization.
Scope of responsibilities
• Support the overall implementation of the project
• Conduct malaria BCC activities, ensuring promotion of messages, brands and products reach key target groups through BCC activities to achieve program targets;
• Ensure all work-related equipments and documents are well-managed and filed appropriately;
• Collaborate effectively with key partners and local authorities;
• Plan and support local meetings with community, CHWs, opinion leaders and local leaders.
• Plan and oversee public animations integrating messages on LLINs use, In-door Residual Spraying (IRS), case management, and Safe environment (environmental sanitation and hygiene) using the MVU Video projection.
• Identification and documentation of best practices and lessons learned directly linked to communication and outreach activities of the project implementation,
• Comply with all RDO policies and procedures,
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor
Competencies
• Ability to set up and operate Mobile Vehicle Unit(MVU) equipments
• Ability to travel frequently for field activities and work with multidisciplinary teams
• Knowledge and experience to organize and implement BCC talks.
Required skills and experience
• A2 level in Education, Social Work or Management field with at least 5 years experience in IEC/BCC or University diploma (A1) in Education, Social Work or Management fields with at least 3 years experience in IEC/BCC domain.
• Knowledge and skills in program communication, networking, advocacy and negotiation
• Excellent interpersonal, writing, communication and team building skills
• Computer proficiency (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point).
• Fluent in Kinyarwanda and English / French.
