Overview
The
Research Assistant’s role is to provide support to the Project Manager and
audit team in the coordination of a state-wide peer reviewed process for
surgical mortality.

initiative is supported by the Victorian Department Human Services and is
managed by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. The Victorian Audit of
Surgical Mortality (VASM) is one of a number of state-based audits contributing
to the bi-national audit of surgical mortality (ANZASM).

This
role supports the management and development of the audit process to provide
the opportunity to evaluate possible deficits in the clinical practices and
hospital systems. This will result in the use of best practice approaches
to improve outcomes for patients.

role will also provide clerical services to the VASM project staff and
collaborators that ensure audit functions are undertaken in an effective and
timely manner.

incumbent will be required to form and maintain effective relationships with
all stakeholders of the audit in Victoria in order undertake and deliver work

in the preparation of project reports - Use
and testing of clinical research databases - Ensuring
data cleanliness, completeness, and accuracy

ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience and
skills:

degree in a health-related science - Experience
in data entry and database usage - Experience
with the use of medical terminology and medical systems - Demonstrated
attention to detail and accuracy - Intermediate
to advanced skills in MS Office
