PURPOSE OF THE JOB
In the last two years, Plan International has made
considerable efforts to effectively mainstream gender across the organization.
This commitment was solidified with the development of a global Policy on
Gender Equality that was released in 2011. This policy outlines key commitments
made by all Plan offices in relation to gender equality.

The Gender Equality & Inclusion Coordinator
will support gender equality and inclusion initiatives in programs and Plan’s
office and operations as well as support the roll-out of the Because lama
Girl campaign and the Gender and Inclusion Strategy and Action Plan.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- · Support the
integration of gender equality and inclusion measures across Plan’s
country programs - · Support gender
equality activities and development of gender equality and inclusions
strategies within projects - · Support the
development of measures to promote gender equality and inclusion within
Plan Rwanda’s procedures and offices. - · Supporting the
designing and localization of gender sensitive packages and delivery
systems at the community level - · Ensuring
community involvement in the conceptualization, development, management,
monitoring and evaluation of Plan Gender Programs - · Ensuring that
monitoring and evaluation of the gender equality and inclusion strategy
and action plan - · Support the
implementation and monitoring of the Because lama Girl campaign.
Support components of the Because lama Girl campaign within
programs. - · Ensure all
Plan Rwanda programs and projects follow global guidelines on gender
equality (i.e. promotion of gender aware and gender transformative
programming). - · Establishing
in-house networks to enhance integration of Gender with other domains - · Documenting
achievements and best practices in Gender programming for internal and
external circulation - · Represent Plan
Rwanda’s work on gender equality and inclusion in external meetings. - · Developing and
strengthening collaborative relationships at national, provincial and
district levels in Gender - · Participating
in workshops, conferences at both local and international forums - · Support
development of project proposals - · Ensuring that
evaluations of projects are done regularly to improve program Planning
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- • A Postgraduate qualification in Gender,
social science, development studies, or other related field - • At least 3 years of experience and skills in
networking with local and international NGOs and agencies, ministries and
partners - • 3 years of experience working on gender
equality in a development context - • Experience in a related field will be an
added value – - • Excellent knowledge of human right based
approach to development and gender equality - • Good budgetary and financial skills
- Fluent in English and French languages
