Responsibilities:
To provide management oversight for all phases of the construction project, including coordinating workers, materials and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being followed, and that work is proceeding on
schedule and within budget.
Essential Functions
1) Interprets plans, estimates costs and quantities of materials needed.
2) Plans construction methods and procedures.
3) Develops a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for the utilization of resources.
4) Selects and coordinates the supply of labour and materials for the various phases of the project.
5) Oversees the performance of all trade contractors and reviews architectural and engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed.
6) Responsible for proper administration of construction contracts and obtaining all necessary permits and licenses.
7) Supervises construction site and direct site managers and subcontractors to make sure standards of building performance, quality, cost schedules and safety are maintained; reviews their reports, checks on any reported difficulties, and corrects any safety violations or other reported deficiencies.
8) Studies building contract documents and negotiate with building owners, consultants and subcontractors.
9) Controls preparation of cost estimates and the documentation for contract bids.
10) Controls payment to subcontractors by valuation of completed works.
11) Tracks and controls construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and monies allocated.
12) Ensures that building regulations, standards and bylaws are enforced in building operations.
13) Consults with architects, engineers and other technical workers to make sure that design intentions are met.
14) Reports to owners and architects about progress and any necessary modifications of plans that seem indicated.
Requirements:
• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Master’s Degree, Engineering (Civil), Quantity Survey, Architecture, Engineering (Mechanical), Engineering (Others) or equivalent.
• Required skill(s): MS Project
• At least 25 year(s) of working experience in the building construction industry.
• At least 10 years (in aggregate) of practical experience in the execution of construction projects in Singapore in the same capacity is required for this position.
• Preferably Managerial level specializing in Engineering – Civil/Construction/Structural or equivalent.
