Girl Hub is a strategic collaboration between DFID and

stopping poverty before it reaches the next generation. We have started Girl
Hubs in Rwanda, Nigeria and Ethiopia, and we are also co-located with DFID in
London. In November 2011 we launched Ni Nyampinga, a youth brand aimed at
inspiring and enabling adolescent girls in Rwanda. Its mission is to reframe
and reposition the value of girls by creating a dynamic teen culture, and
positive collective identity for girls. Ni Nyampinga is built on girl insight
and cultural relevance.
WHAT IS NI
NYAMPINGA ?
Ni Nyampinga is Rwanda’s first youth brand, aimed at
inspiring and enabling Rwandan girls to be future leaders. The purpose of the
NN brand and its unique entry point, is as a ‘friend’ to girls through the
journey of adolescence”. Launched by Girl Hub Rwanda in 2011, Ni Nyampinga
currently consists of a quarterly magazine and thrice weekly radio show that is
by girls for girls and reaches a national audience. The content is designed to
inspire and instil self-belief as well as provide practical and enabling
information that can be used every day in girl’s lives. Most importantly Ni
Nyampinga acts a much-needed friend to girls as they learn, explore and grow
through adolescence.
