Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Production Operations, the
Production Assistant is responsible to support the department in all logistical
and administrative functions. This position also acts as the primary driver for
the department and for the Executive Office. Specific duti
es include but are
not limited to: inventory and purchase of stock materials for the department,
offering general administrative support, researching materials relevant to
scenic or property construction, lighting and sound as well as drafting basic
technical drawings as required. As a vital member of the team, the Production
Assistant is also required to support the realization of productions, festivals
and events held on our stages and in the lobby of the NAC.
Requirements:
– Graduate of post-secondary education specializing in the
production of performing arts and/or three (3) years’ experience in a technical
role in the performing arts; – Proof of a valid driver’s license (equivalent to
an Ontario G class permit) and clean driver abstract; – The ability to drive a
large cargo van and a 5 ton transport truck (automatic transmission); –
Willingness to undertake challenging work that does not conform to regular schedules;
– Available to work evenings and weekends; – An ability to work unsupervised
while maintaining goals and an attention to detail; – Proficiency in Microsoft
Office; – Practical knowledge of AutoCAD or Vectorworks; – Practical knowledge
of Lightwright is an asset; – Strong communication and interpersonal skills; –
Tact, diplomacy and discretion; – Bilingual in both official languages. Regular
attendance at work is an expectation of employment and an essential part of
every job.
