National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) Information and Communications Officer Job Vacancy in Uganda

The National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) was established through an Act of Parliament (2001) of which three organs, the Secretariat, the Board and Farmers Forum were established.
In order to ensure policy implementation and operationalisation of the strategic plans of the organisation, meet the national strategic objectives embedded in the National Development Plan (NDP) in the context of the Agricultural Sector Development Strategy and Investment Plan (DSIP), and achieve Prosperity For All (PFA), the National Agricultural Advisory Services Board now invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following vacant positions at the NAADS Secretariat.

Information and Communications Officer

Reports to: Executive Director

a. Job purpose:
Support the executive Director in terms of NAADS relations with the public at large, and specifically meeting the general information needs of stakeholders. Assist in the coordination of activities related to assessment of information needs and sources; and the development of a strategy for coalition and managing information and knowledge on NAADS as well as the agricultural sector at large, and making this available to different stakeholders.

bi Functions
i. Develop, implement and review information and communication plans, programmes and strategies that support the advancement of the good public relations and market the corporate image of NAADS.
ii. Advise NAADS management on public relations matters;
iii. Monitor and analyze media reporting to promote positive media relations;
iv. Prepare press release, media briefs, and magazines that inform the public on salient and critical issues of the NAADS secretariat;
v. Organize photography, media coverage of functions and other activities of interest to NAADS for dissemination to stakeholders;
vi. Prepare and disseminate relevant information on the NAADS website and promote the image of NAADS in liaison with the print media;
vii. Organize press conferences for the Executive Director and the Board as and when occasion demands;
viii. Prepare work plans, budgets and .performance reports for the Unit and forward them to the Executive Director, for action. and organisation
x. Carry out any other duties assigned duties from tone to time.

Job requirement
c. Person Specifications
(i) Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mass communication, BA/BSc Marketing, B/com-marketing, SWASA, BA (Sociology) plus Masters degree in related field.

(ii) Experience
At least 5 years relevant experience, (iii) Competence
