• Start

  October 15, 2016 (negotiable)
• Location:
  Based in Victoria, with 2 two-month field visits to Cusco, Peru per year.
• Contract:
  Three-year contract, renewable (with 3-month probationary period).
• Schedule:
  This position is based on deliverables and responsibilities, rather than
  recorded hours. However, we ask for a minimum of 3 days per week (or 24
  hours per week) for the first year. The position allows for a flexible
  schedule, but with a need to work some weekends and the ability to spend
  extensive time in Peru for field visits. We understand the need to pursue
  other part-time jobs or contracts, but hope that the candidate is
  interested in working towards a goal of full-time employment, as funding
  permits.
• Salary:
  $30,000 CAD/year for first-year part-time position, with incentive program
  beginning in year two based on percentage of funds raised and program
  growth. Goal of increasing to full-time position, with competitive wage.
  High potential for growth and advancement in position. Approved
  program-related travel expenses will be covered.
• Benefits:
  Health, dental, RRSPs. Wilderness first-aid will be covered at beginning
  of contract. Beginning year two, pre-approved professional development
  opportunities (including workshops and conferences) may be covered.
• Supervision:
  The Executive Director will be collectively trained, supervised, and
  guided by the organization’s Board of Directors, with regular reporting
  requirements.

• Networking
  with like-minded organizations, influential donors and supporters,
  partners, government officials, and community members
• Acting
  as a Mosqoy spokesperson, for media appearances, academic and
  public lectures, networking opportunities, and public presentations

• Maintaining
  and improving consistent and transparent communication policies
  with all supporters and donors
• Nurturing
  personal and professional relationships with our
  partnering communities, students, alumni, weavers, and other beneficiaries
• Maintaining
  honest, open, coherent communication – both written and verbal –
  with Mosqoy’s personnel (both staff and volunteers) in Canada, Peru, and
  globally
• Clearly,
  consistently, and honestly reporting to and following instructions from
  the organization’s Board of Directors

• Overseeing
  event organization, especially for large organizational events such
  as our biennial winter fundraising gala and our annual summer luncheon
• Fundraising
  for
  a large portion of the organization’s annual operating budget that is not
  covered by our social enterprise revenues. Such fundraising includes
  grant-writing, networking, personal appeals, events, and online campaigns.

• Ensuring
  compliance with all laws governing charitable organizations in
  Canada and Peru
• Overseeing
  all finances, to ensure transparency and accountability
• Leading
  and commissioning an external Monitoring & Evaluation process,
  based on the organization’s 2015 M&E structure
• Following
  and improving all of the organization’s protocols, policies, and
  manuals to ensure common practices within all levels of operations

• Assisting
  the Board of Directors with long-term strategy and development, for
  ethical and sustainable operations of all programs, with community and
  beneficiary consultation
• Following
  our October 2016 – September 2021 five-year operational plan, as
  approved by the Board of Directors, while suggesting improvements and
  adaptations based on annual assessments

• Training
  and supervising
  program managers, high-level staff, and other personnel
• When
  necessary, imposing appropriate, effective yet sensitive accountability
  and disciplinary measures for staff and volunteers, to ensure the
  satisfaction of all deliverables
• Fostering
  a positive, friendly, inclusive, non-discriminatory team environment
  at all levels of the organization, breaking down hierarchies between staff
  and volunteers, and crossing borders between Peru and Canada

• Minimum
  Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in a related field
• Fluent
  English and Spanish (written and verbal)
• Previous
  marketing experience
• Previous
  experience supervising staff and volunteers
• Previous
  experience in business management, NGO management, or Social Enterprise
• Minimum
  of 5 years fundraising experience, and demonstrated fundraising ability
• Financial
  literacy, including understanding of Excel, QuickBooks, and high-level
  budgeting
• Excellent
  professional writing and editing skills
• Excellent
  public speaking skills

  multitasking, time-management, and efficiency, and ability to work under
  pressure
• Ability
