Mahama
Refugee Ca

mp – WASH Facilitator. This position will be based in
at Mahama Sector, Kirehe District, Eastern Province and reporting to the Mahama Refugee Camp – WASH Manager. This
is a one year program.

Purpose
of the position:
Implement
WASH behavioral change activities effectively in Mahama Refugee camp in
respect of the international recognized standards.
Communicate
World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate quality spiritual life that can
be commendable to others.
The
major responsibilities include:
  • Plan, facilitate and conduct
    behavioral change activities using recommended promotion approaches for
    Rwanda in collaboration with community
    health workers in the Mahama Refugee Camp and the neighboring community.
  • Plan, facilitate and conduct
    behavioral change activities using recommended promotion approaches for
    Rwanda in schools and Health Centers around the Mahama Refugee camp
  • Closely follow up and monitor
    behavioral change activities implementation and their output/outcome
    within the camp and the surrounding community to identify corrective
    measures for implementation.
  • Coordinate the work of the social
    mobilizers in the camp, collect and compile their reports. 
  • Initiate, plan and provide training
    to mothers on personal hygiene, water storage and handling and hand
    washing.
  • Prepare quality progress reports
    monthly, quarterly, biannually and annually that clearly narrate the
    activities carried out within the reporting period.
  • Carry out assessments related to WASH
    in the camp and the neighborhood.
  • Create and organize the hygiene clubs
    and WASH committees towards the sustainability of WASH infrastructures and
    services in the camp.
  • Create networking and partnership
    with relevant partners operating in the camp or at the district level to
    enhance WASH behavioral Change promotion.
Qualifications: 
Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
The
following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education,
prior experience or on-the-job training:
  • Qualification required: BSc in
    Environmental Health, Public health or Social Sciences and related fields
    with 2 years experience on sanitation and hygiene in
    WASH in emergency situations.
  • Experience on CLTS and PHAST models.
    Knowledge of CBEHPP being an asset.
  • Computer literate: Micro Soft word,
    excel and internet 
  • Other NGO experience will be also an
    asset

Competencies/Attributes:
  • Must be a committed Christian, able
    to stand above denominational diversities.
  • Attend and participate in daily
    devotions.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Working
Environment / Conditions:
  • Work environment: – based in based in
    Mahama Sector, Kirehe District.
  • In the camp and the neighboring
    community:  95%.
  • On call:  5%
