Background

The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) through
its Faculty of Food and Human Sciences has received funding from Irish Aid to
implement a project titled “Support National Nutrition R

esponse in Malawi.” The
project will be implemented in collaboration with the Department of Nutrition,
HIV and AIDS (DNHA) and in partnership with Ministry of Health (MOH) through
Environmental Health Section (EHS), Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and
Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development (MoAIWD) from 2017 to
2020.

The
project is aiming to scale-up and support the national nutrition response using
selected interventions which would largely build on successes a predecessor
project as well as undertake implementation of thematic areas that have
emerged in recent years such as:
1.      Adolescent nutrition
2.      Nutrition-sensitive agriculture
3.      Food fortification monitoring
4.      Area Specific Seasonal Food
Availability Calendars (ASSFACs)

Objective: 

To provide services in collecting, sorting and delivering mail, documents and
other items; and to operate a motor vehicle to provide transportation for Staff
and other authorised persons as required, by the Project

Organizational
Setting:
The
Office Assistant will provide support services to the project management team
under the direct supervision and coordination from the Principal Investigator
(Pl) and the Project Coordinator.

Content:

Overall job content:
The Assistant/Driver is responsible for ensuring the project vehicle is timely
and that clerical responsibilities are executed in coordination with Pl,
Project Coordinator, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and Project Accounts
Assistant.
Specific
tasks and responsibilities
Clerical
responsibilities:
·        
Support
and assist project staff in performing registry-related duties, such as
providing messenger services and filing.
·        
Ensure
offices tor project staff are clean and safe for use.
·        
Make
distribution of mails and project documents.
·        
Provide
logistical support to project staff in organization and preparation of all
workshops, trainings, meetings and events.
·        
Assist in
the technical aspect of procurement of equipment, furniture and office
supplies.
·        
Perform
all other clerical related duties, upon request.
Vehicular
responsibilities:
·        
Drive
project vehicle for transportation of authorized personnel and delivery/
collection of project materials.
·        
Drive
project staff for field trips or meetings in/or out-side Lilongwe.
·        
Ensure
that assigned vehicle is clean and road worthy.
·        
Ensure
safety of the vehicle at all times.
·        
Fill the
Log Book appropriately
·        
Check and
timely report to the Project Coordinator if the vehicle is due for service or
requires maintenance.
·        
Ensure
that necessary steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of
involvement in accident.
·        
Perform
all other related duties.
5.0
Required qualifications and experience
·        
Clean and
valid professional driving licence
·        
Should
possess defensive driving licence
·        
Minimum
MSCE qualification
·        
Age of
between 25-45 years
·        
Experience
in office work, preferably in a busy settings
·        
Fluent in
English
·        
Good
interpersonal communication skills
·        
Good
knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary
