Abstract
This project assessed leprosy, its challenges on selected
persons after rehabilitation into the society in Eku Community: Implication for
health education/promotion, Delta State. To guide the study, four research
questions and hypotheses were drawn and formulated. To get a broad view of the
topic, relevant literatures were reviewed. The research design used was the
descriptive survey research method. The instrument for data collection was the
structured questionnaire which the researcher personally administered to the
respondents. The researcher used the stratified and simple random sampling
technique to select a sample size of one hundred and sixty (160) respondents
out of a total population of nine thousand, eight hundred and seventy-three
(9,873) persons.Data collected were analysed using frequency distribution
tables, percentages and chi-square statistics at an alpha of 0.05 level of
significance to test the hypotheses. The data collected revealed that (i) there
is awareness of the people of Eku in regards to leprosy rehabilitation, etc.
Based on this, the researcher recommends that (i) there should be adequate
awareness about leprosy and decrease the false beliefs that underlie its
associated stigma, etc.
