employment position.
Tasks
and Responsibilities

The
hired student will do research and promote the utilization of downed trees to
create local economic opportunities. This includes developing marketing
material and supporting outreach activities, doing studies of best practices on
urban wood utilization and analysis of the local wood industry and its needs.

This
student will work closely with City of Toronto Economic Development & Culture
staff and will be expected to spend the majority of their work time placed in
their office at City Hall. The student’s work will be directly supervised by
City staff and staff will provide mentoring of the hired student.

The
selected student must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree or
diploma program in a program with career relevance to forestry, and/or local
economic development such as forestry, environmental sciences, or business
administration.

applicants must meet these criteria:

- (a)
is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment; - (b)
was registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year; - (c)
intends to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic
year; - (d)
is a student in a secondary, post-secondary, CEGEP (Quebec only), vocational
or technical program; - (e)
is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee
protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection
Act* and; - (f)
is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial /
territorial legislation and regulations
