Our client, a leading mining industry services provider, is seeking experienced Auto Electricians to perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair duties in their busy Eastern Suburbs workshop


What we expect of you

• Undertake other tasks that you are competent to perform, as required
• To utilize judgment, trade skills and experience to produce a consistently high standard of work
• Maintain confidentiality of all company information
• Accurate and timely completion of all work
• Ensure that the HSE principles are followed in all work areas

Duties and Responsibilities
• Inspect machinery using client forms and develop a list of repairs on the electrical system and components
• Diagnose and fault find on equipment following customer complaints – test and repair as required or directed by Leading Hand or Supervisor
• Liaise with workshop Leading Hands & Supervisor to update on job progress and completions
• Use and maintain workshop tooling in accordance to OEM specifications and conditions, reporting any faults
• Establish and maintain an accurate record of repairs and maintenance for all equipment in the workshop and on work sites
• Assist Workshop Supervisor and Estimator by identifying the work required and time to be taken for jobs
• Maintain an accurate time-keeping record
• When directed create a parts list to order parts for machine repairs
• Maintain shed tidiness & cleanliness
• Assist in the training of apprentices
• Ensure that Take5 is undertaken and followed on each and every task
• JSAs must be conducted if indicated by the take 5 process
• Adhere to all client & WorkSafe standards and practices for safety and PPE
• Adhere to all client policies
• Maintain all work equipment to a high standard
• Attend weekly toolbox meetings & monthly HSE meetings
• Ensure time cards are correctly filled out with job numbers and correct times
• Carry out designated tasks as outlined by workshop Leading Hands or Workshop Supervisor

Skills & experience required for the Position
Essential – You must have

• Trade qualifications (certificate) in electrical fitting with a minimum of 3 years experience repairing Caterpillar, Komatsu, and/or Hitachi & Liebherr equipment such as front end-loaders, excavators, graders, dozers, excavators and dump trucks
• Experience working with high voltage equipment of a rectifier rated capacity of 1340kw
• Sound knowledge and understanding of auto electrical systems, wiring & fixtures with demonstrated current knowledge
• The ability to work unsupervised and to direct and support other trade staff and apprentices
• Good comprehension of the English language including the ability to read and understand written OEM manuals and work scope instructions

Preferred
• Background working for a Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi or Liebherr dealership
• Average or higher computer skills
