BACKGROUND
Islamic Aid is an
innovative and exciting international development charity. Since its inception
in 2000 it’s been driven forward by its Founder and Chairman, the entrepreneur,
Mahmood Hassan.

Progress has been
impressive with highly successful and award winning fundraising, delivering
high impact through its various projects. The charity continues to grow and
significant funding is now in place to deliver an ambitious expansion plan.
This will see Islamic Aid building on its proven entrepreneurial approach to
fundraising while establishing the foundations for more substantial programme
work. Mahmood is now looking to recruit a team of passionate and committed
professionals to help shape the direction and expand Islamic Aid.

JOB PURPOSE
To be responsible for
developing and implementing the digital media elements of fundraising and
marketing and as a direct result to maximise income generated through digital
channels. The role provides a link between the disciplines of direct marketing,
fundraising and digital media.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Digital Fundraising
is almost new to Islamic Aid and. It’s envisaged that the role will include the
following activities:
1.   To be responsible for developing
digital fundsraising strategy and plans and implementation, with the express
purpose of recruiting new donors, developing and engaging existing donors and
maximising income
2.   To remain up-to-date with all digital
media technologies and trends and advise on how they might best be used
throughout Islamic Aid
3.   To be accountable for achieving income
goals and for adherence to budget expenditure limits (internal and external
costs) and ensuring best value for money on all spend
4.   To develop ideas for new
products/channels based on knowledge and understanding of Islamic Aid’s current
and potential audience
5.   Research and develop new ideas,
proposals and potential income streams
6.   Develop and implement digital media
donor recruitment plans: to build up a base of digital contacts for the
organisation and to recruit new donors
7.   To develop and implement digital media
donor development plans and make digital fundraising more effective and
relevant to existing donors
8.   To develop and deliver communication
programmes, tests and schedules to maximise response and income from the
database
9.   To implement online promotional
campaigns (around emergencies and other fundraising initiatives) including SEO,
PPC, affiliates, social networks
10.               
To
assist other departments’ with advice, expertise and support in the use of
digital media to achieve their objectives and to help make their functioning
more effective.
11.               
Ultimately
to embed a digital culture across Islamic Aid.
12.               
To
manage relationships with digital suppliers for digital fundraising initiatives
13.               
Negotiate
and agree any contractual requirements needed in digital fundraising projects
and ensure activities are legally compliant
14.               
To
track and analyse statistics for new media projects and suggest amendments to
enhance visibility, site visits, click though rates, conversions
15.               
To
be able to proactively respond to changing world environment in with Islamic
Aid exists.
KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
AND EXPERIENCE

This
post requires a strategic thinker and hands-on entrepreneur able to create and
deliver approaches that work
·        
At
least 3 years relevant experience
·        
Strong
working knowledge/experience of online marketing: use of channels such as
search (paid and organic), email, affiliates, viral, social media, Google
AdWords etc; website metrics/statistical analysis and interpretation; audience
research, profiling and market analysis and integration with offline media
·        
Demonstrable
ability to develop and implement digital innovation
·        
Experience
of fundraising principles and/or direct marketing knowledge
·        
A
proven track record of project managing the development of fundraising
communications across a range of digital media Manages time and resources
efficiently
·        
Can
adapt easily to change Self-starter, enthused by targets and their delivery
·        
A
strong communicator, written and verbal
including the ability to work across culturally diverse
contexts
Creative
·        
Able
to turn ideas into reality
·        
Good
team work
·        
A
proven track record of project managing the development of fundraising
communications across a range of digital media
·        
Understanding
of web services e.g. APIs, mashups and User Generated Content Competent
  
ICT skills (we use GoogleApps throughout
Islamic Aid and expect you to have or quickly become an advanced level user)
