– International Training and Education Center for Health has been priviledged
to provide technical support to the Govt of Malawi ministry of Health (MOH),
since 2008, through seconded senior technical assistants, Programmes officers
and public Health Fellows, The ITEC was  established in 2002 at the
University of Washington in Seattle, ITEC H is funded by the US Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Global HIV and TB (CDC-DGHT) under
the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIS Relief (PEPFAR)

Program
Manager, Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM) – ITECH – Lilongwe
MOH
established the Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM in November 2012 with a
view to creating a center for excellence on public health that contributes
towards quality and productive life of all Malawians, PHIM is intended to
provide leadership in disease surveillance, research, prevention and control as
well as to generate scientific evidence that informs policy and practice in
public health service delivery, The overall goal of PHIM is to provide national
leadership in surveillance, research, prevention and control of diseases of
major public health importance
The
Programme Manager to be based at the PHIM Secretariat is essential to
facilitate the development process of PHIM and to provide technical assistance
in the e administration and management of the institute for efficient and
effective organisational performance, The Programme manager will provide
technical support to align PHIM with the health sector strategies,
Specifically, the Programme Manager will provide technical assistance in
programme planning and evaluation, setting up systems for the functional units
of the institute and assessing training needs of the institute
A
Masters Degree in a Public Health Discipline, Social Sciences, Public
Administration or international Development, Those with project management or
business management qualifications will be considered if they have acquired
adequate experience managing Programmes within the health sector, a minimum of
4 yrs demonstrable experience working in a public health – oriented
organisation, Experience of having worked in a public health institute will be
an added advantage
Well
versed in the functions and operations of public health institutes, Excellent
knowledge and skills in team management and team building as well as problem
solving skills, Knowledge and skills in project management, resource gap analysis
and resource mobilisation, ability to work in a public sector environment to
accomplish goals and favourably influence decision making processes in a
diplomatic and collaborative manner, Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, Ability to
work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst working on tight schedules,
Experience in working win a multi cultural and multi disciplinary environment
