Plc, makers of Nigeria’s No.1 children favourite meal, Indomie Instant Noodles
has announced the commencement of their 2013 Indomie National Post Graduate
Nutrition Scholarship Awards which is a focal part of the company’s corporate
social responsibility initiative in the area of educational empowerment in
Nigeria.
The 2013 edition of
the Indomie MSC Nutrition Scholarship Awards is the Fifth edition of the
laudable CSR initiative of the company which was instituted in 2009 for
Nigerian students studying Nutrition and Dietetics at masters’ degree level
with the aim of assisting the training of high level Nutrition and Dietetics
manpower in the country.
According to Mr.
Tope Ashiwaju, the Public Relations Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, the Scholarship
Scheme was initiated due to the fact that the company identified a wide
knowledge gap in Nutrition and Dietetics and as such decided to take the
challenge to build man power capacity in that regards.
He also stated that
the company is collaborating with select Nigerian Universities in the training
and empowerment of high level Nutrition and Dietetics professionals, who in
turn will produce a significant number of highly trained nutritionists that
will guide the way for optimum nutrition for all Nigerians.
“The Scholarship is
open to all Nigerian students qualified for admission to undergo the M.Sc
programme in Nutrition and Dietetics in Nigerian Universities. The nation needs
a boost in the area of healthy living among the citizens therefore nutrition
plays a major role in ensuring that the citizens of this great nation are in
good health and perfect condition” he said.
Ashiwaju further
stressed that the importance of eating healthy and a well prepared balanced
diets cannot be overemphasized. According to him, certain health conditions
like diabetes require strict diets that must be adhered to, thus the need to
ensure that the potentials of the Nutritionists and Dietitians are maximally
utilized.
On the eligibility
for the scholarship, Ashiwaju said “the scholarship is open to all Nigerian
students qualified for admission to MSC programme in Nutrition and Dietetics
within the Nigerian University environment. Awards will be made to qualified
and suitable students from every geopolitical zone of the Federation including
the FCT.”
He advised eligible
candidates to apply in writing providing their full names (surname first); a
copy of letter of admission into the programme (or photocopy of Application for
Admission); details of educational history and evidence of state of origin
obtained from the appropriate Local Government Area and duly signed by the
Chairman or Secretary) all enclosed in an A4 enveloped and should be marked
‘APPL 2013 AWARD’ on the top left corner addressed to the Co-ordinator,
DUFIL-NUTRITION, AWARDS PROGRAMME, P.O. Box 1983 SAPON, ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE.

Also speaking on the
Scholarship Award, Co-ordinator of the programme Prof. Babatunde Oguntona urged
eligible candidates to take full advantage of the scheme which he said will
prepare them for expertise in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics. He called
the scheme a rare opportunity and commended DUFIL Prima Foods for its
contribution towards the society.
It should be noted
that the Indomie M.Sc Nutrition Scholarship started in 2009 and has been
occurring every year after that. This year makes it the 5th edition of the
laudable Scholarship Award.
