IEFT is a registered non-profit organization that collaborates with rural communities in northern Tanzania to provide
quality, affordable secondary education to indigenous children. IEFT operates the Orkeeswa Secondary School which is populated by motivated students and an upbeat and welcoming staff. Come join IEFT’s team and make a difference in the lives of children in a remote part of East Africa!
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial
• Maintain spreadsheet of TZ expenditures and bank statements for transmission to US bookkeeper.
• Assist with the preparation of financial reports as required
• Review and revise financial record keeping for TZ expenditures and receipts
• Assist Operations Manager with preparation and processing of monthly TZ payroll
• Record and monitor petty cash expenditures
• Assist Associate Director with the development & implementation of internal controls and procedures for TZ accounting systems
Administration/ General
• Review and revise office administration systems and processes as necessary
• Maintain office recording keeping for electronic and physical files for school and office
• Provide administrative assistance to school staff as required
• Responsible for all incoming and outgoing mail
Development
• Work in coordination with Associate Director to research TZ based fundraising opportunities
• Assist in the writing of letters of interest and proposals as needed to support US and TZ development activities
• Support Associate Director in the monitoring and reporting of grant awards
• Assist with donor cultivation and recognition;
• Develop and track outcome measures as required
Program Support
• Assist school staff in student meeting student medical needs and documentation, accompany students for medical visits as required
• Serve as host as needed for visitors to school
• Other tasks as may be generally required to assist operations in Tanzania

(Internal customers include all people with a direct involvement with IEFT such as Directors, staff, volunteers, teachers and students. External customers include all other persons such as students’ parents and family, clients, visitors, donors/sponsors, business and professional persons, villagers, officials, etc.)
We are looking for a candidate that is:
• At least 21 years old
• Dedicated to a one-year commitment (preferred)
• ENTHUSIASTIC about empowering marginalized children and communities while respecting their culture and traditions
• ORGANIZED and has a strong attention to detail
• FLEXIBLE and able to cope with challenging living and working conditions in a developing country with a lack of Western amenities
• SELF-MOTIVATED and able to take initiative
• EFFICIENT and flexible under pressure
• PERSONABLE and able to build and maintain relationships with a variety of diverse people
• WELCOMING and able to create a friendly and inviting environment for visitors and volunteers
