Henrietta Hutton Research Grant for Geographical Research Overseas

The Royal Geographical Society is offering two Research
 grants for undergraduate or postgraduate students to carry out their
research overseas. The research grant is open for international students who
are registered at a UK Higher Education Institution. The fieldwork must be
overseas and should be more than four weeks in duration. The value of
research grants is £500. The funds for the grant are provided by Henrietta
Hutton Memorial Fund. Preference will be given in the geographical, social
and/or environmental science or natural history element. Send the application

Eligibility
-Open to
residents of all countries;
-Applicants must be students registered at a UK Higher Education Institution;
-Preference will be given to field research studies with a significant
geographical, social and/or environmental science or natural history element;
– Applicants should show evidence of strong host country participation in the
field research to be undertaken; Projects which involve recipients returning to
their home countries for fieldwork generally will not be considered;
– Applicants must begin their field research the same year the grant is
awarded;
-Projects that involve joining an existing commercial organisation on a
pre-paid tour will not be considered; – The field research must be of more than
four weeks duration but does not necessarily have to be connected to the
student’s academic studies;
-This opportunity is for current students only.
Scholarship Open for Students of Following
Countries
: The International students can apply for this
scholarship but must be registered at a UK Higher Education Institution.
Scholarship Description: The Society offers two grants of £500 each annually to undergraduate or
postgraduate students who intend to undertake field research overseas as an individual
or as part of a team. The field research must last longer than four weeks, but
does not have to be connected to the student’s academic studies. The grants are
given in memory of Henrietta Hutton, a young Oxford graduate who died in 1963.
She was a founder member of the Oxford University Women’s Exploration Club and
a widely respected ornithologist.
Number of awards offered: Two research grants are offered.
