The Laboratory of
Vaccines for the Developing World has research programs focused on the
development of a malaria vaccine. This work involves developing and progressing
vaccine strategies from the laboratory to field trials to evaluate vaccine
efficacy.

This is a fixed
term (12 months), full time position based at the Gold Coast campus.

The role:
The position is part of the Laboratory of Vaccines for the Developing World
within the Institute for Glycomics. It supports key vaccine development
projects in the laboratory, under the direction of the laboratory head. The
position will provide research assistance to key projects in the laboratory
that are focused on developing anti-parasite vaccines eg Malaria.


The person:
The successful candidate will have at least a Bachelor of Science Degree
with Honours in biological sciences and relevant experience in molecular
biology, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and/or experience. You
will have demonstrated experience or ability in laboratory work, particularly
molecular biology (eg PCR), and demonstrated ability to carry out specified
research tasks accurately with strong attention to detail and meet deadlines.
The successful appointee will possess the ability to contribute effectively
within a team environment including an ability to prioritise workload.

Salary range:
Research Assistant, Grade 2: $64,197 – $67,669 per annum.
