Overview

Under the direction of the Good Food Greater Fred

ericton policy
network, this person will organize a community food security event,
organize and facilitate a participatory food security assessment for a
group experiencing food insecurity, and organize the launch of the
Fredericton Food Charter and Toolkit.

This part time contract position commences in August and continues
until April 2016. Average hours per week are estimated to be 20 hours.
Contract rate is between $17- $18/hr.

Contract Description

Greater Fredericton Food Security Mobilizer: To activate, plan and
organize community action in support of the launch of a Food Charter
for the city of Fredericton and surrounding communities.

Outline of Deliverables
• organize the Good Food Gathering; a community engagement event for
upwards of 200 participants, to promote knowledge and action on food
security issues
• plan, coordinate and evaluate a participatory food security
assessment involving 20-25 individuals experiencing food insecurity
• plan and execute the launch of the Greater Fredericton Food Charter
and Charter Toolkit
• develop and execute a strategy to promote endorsement of the Food
Charter by individuals, families, organizations, and businesses
• raise awareness of local, national, and global food security issues
• provide administrative support and guidance to the GFGF Leadership
Committee and GFGF Stewardship network
• maintain active GFGF social media, including webpage, Twitter and Facebook

Supporting Skill Sets and Experience
• Project management and facilitation experience including but not
limited to ensuring that deliverables are met, fostering coordination
amongst team members, and facilitating community engagement events and
activities
• Ability to plan, organize, and direct the delivery of a community projects
• Knowledge of and experience in community organizing and food security issues
• Solid communication skills, verbal and written, including
facilitation and presentation skills
• Proven ability to network and build partner relationships; being
friendly, patient and collaborative
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
• Ability to promote programs through media including using social media tools
• Proficient in Microsoft products

This contract offers flexible hours, working from a home office, with
some travel within the city required.
