GOAL WASH Project Manager Job Vacancy in Uganda

GOAL Uganda’s country programme focuses on two of three of GOAL’S stra¬tegic sectors namely, Health (including WASH and HIV) and Livelihoods. In the Livelihoods sector, GOAL Uganda will be implementing
a collaborative project focusing on building productive assets at the community level through a Cash for Work (CFW) approach in the Abim District in the Central region of Karamoja. This project will directly address the overall objective of the Karamoja Livelihood Programme (KALIP) to “protect and enhance the incomes and food security of agro-pastoral communities and support them in building up their own productive asset base” and the specific objective “productive assets built through labour intensive works and capital injected in the local economy”. GOAL is committed to the safety and protection of children in our care from intentional and unintentional harm. GOAL is currently recruiting for the following positions based in Abim District.

WASH Project Manager – Northern Uganda

The WASH Project Manager will manage GOAL’S Water, Sanitation & Hy¬giene (WASH) programme, and develop project staff in environmental and engineering fields in order to achieve GOAL’S programme objectives.

Essential Requirements
• University degree in public health or related discipline Minimum of two years actual project management experience with a strong focus on hygiene promotion and capacity building Experience of hygiene sanitation participatory approaches such as PHAST and CLTS
• At least 4 years’ experience of working in an NGO or similar WA$H environment
• Excellent communication, computer and report writing skills Experience of management and training of staff. Demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills to plan projects, timetable agreed activities, manage a budget and oversee staff activities.
• Ability and willingness to live in a remote, insecure location, within security procedures
• Good team player, flexible and capable of adapting to a recovering, rural community environment.
• Experience in working with implementing partners

Desirable
• A technical undergraduate degree, preferably Civil or Structural Engineering
• MSc in Water and Environmental Management, Behaviour Change, Water Management, Water and Waste Engineering or similar. Experience of capacity building a partner I pump mechanics associations extremely desirable
