Position
Overview:
The
operationalization of the National Quality Management Policy and strategic plan
will entail implementation of new measures for enhancing the quality of health
services across the country. The Quality
Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) Fellow, working with the HIV Team, will
primarily contrib
ute and serve as the subject matter officer for Malawi’s HIV
clinical care and treatment within the Ministry of Health’s Quality
Assurance/Quality Improvement portfolio. Drawing from the Quality Management
Policy and Strategic Plan, the fellow will support the team with setting
strategic programmatic direction for HIV care and treatment, including
anti-retroviral therapy (ART), prevention of mother to child transmission
(PMTCT), pediatric ART, TB/HIV, and clinical services. The QA/QI Fellow will
interact with various technical representatives of the Government of Malawi
(GOM), counterparts from the international donor community, and all other key
development partners. The QA/QI Fellow will report to the Head of Quality
Management Unit.
Responsibilities:
- Develop,
implement, and evaluate quality management protocol for HIV/AIDS programs
that involve coordination with various implementing partners - Participate
in the assessment of HIV/AIDS services and program activities using agreed
upon quality management monitoring mechanisms - Establish
and maintain relationships across government entities and donor
organizations - Manage
high-level coordination and relationships with various stakeholders - Produce
professional quality technical and analytical materials - Obtain,
evaluate, and interpret factual data in order to prepare precise and
complete reports on quality management in a clear and effective manner - Any
other duties as determined by the Head of Quality Management Unit
Desired
Skills and Experience:
Items

- Bachelor’s
degree in public health, international development, social science, or
related field* - Preferred:
Master’s degree in public health, international development, social
science, or related field - Knowledge
of HIV/AIDS clinical care and design, implementation, and/or evaluation of
treatment programs * - Knowledge
of HIV/AIDS epidemiology and current strategies for treatment, care and
prevention* - Ability
to work flexibly, including handling an erratic schedule and/or location
changes* - Strong
writing skills* - Strong
computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point or other database
software, and word processing programs* - Ability
to communicate effectively with high ranking officials* - Familiarity
with or interest in learning about the different branches in the Malawi
Government, particularly the MOH - The
ability to build and nurture relationships in settings of political and
cultural complexity - Ability
to multi-task, manage multiple priorities, and take independent initiative - Ability
to report to several different supervisors/organizations simultaneously - Self-starter
and a strategic thinker; analytical and very creative
