Free
The Children

seeks an Outreach & Youth Programming Manager to join our Youth and
Educational Programming team in Toronto. The Manager is responsible for
ensuring the successful implementation of all Free The Children outreach and
youth programming, and for managing and motivating a high performing team
including: frontline speakers who serve as ambassadors for the organization;
logistic coordinators who plan and organize speaking engagements across North
America; as well as relationship holders for youth engaged in our innovative
social justice programming that focuses on both local and global issues.
The
Outreach & Youth Programming Manager has the responsibility of ensuring the
successful implementation of the various methods of outreach that drive the
success of Free The Children, both in honouring our current stakeholders and
for attracting new ones. Within the department, the Outreach & Youth
Programming Manager is a positive, organized, logical thinker with excellent communication
and management skills. They collaborate with various teams to ensure
organizational priorities are being promoted through frontline engagements,
supporting the initiatives of schools participating in Free The Children’s
year-long school program. The Outreach & Youth Programming Manager works on
many projects at once while also mentoring and supporting a high performance
team housed in Ontario, Minnesota & Illinois.
A
minimum two year commitment is required, with salary commensurate of experience.
There is a three (3) month probationary period, upon reaching the three (3)
month period, all staff members are offered a health plan including dental and
Employee Assistant Program. The position is based out of Free The Children’s
International office in Toronto (233 Carlton Street) with some travel to
Minnesota and Illinois.

Core
responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Team
Management
  • Support,
    train, and manage a team of full-time speakers and coordinators who are
    responsible for delivering motivational speeches across Canada and the
    United States;
  • Support,
    train and manage a team of coordinators who are responsible for youth
    outreach and engagement in taking action (raising funds and awareness) in
    support of Free The Children’s community development work overseas, as
    well as other local issues;
  • Liaise
    frequently with other departments, ensuring strategic internal
    communication and successful collaboration on organizational wide
    priorities and goals;
  • Represent
    Free The Children at meetings, conferences, and school presentations;
  • Provide
    team with weekly, monthly and semi-annual staff check-in’s, program and
    process quality checks and performance based evaluations
Development
  • Develop
    and implement standardized operating processes, project management
    techniques and communication templates for utilization across offices for
    sponsored speaking tours, outreach programming and youth retention;
  • Creation
    of strategy and tactics to achieve department vision and annual goals;
  • Create
    leadership opportunities and projects to foster the growth and development
    of team members;
  • Support
    the initiatives of schools participating in Free The Children’s year-long
    school program
General
& Administrative
  • Use
    of internal database and CRM to monitor and track progress, and pull pertinent
    information as needed for the Associate Director and Director;
  • Oversee
    expenses for the team, team meetings and communicate any extra support
    that is needed to ensure the safe and healthy delivery of programming;
  • Setting
    and managing multiple team priorities
Skills
and Qualifications:
  • Possess
    a Bachelor’s degree plus professional experience preferably in Sales &
    Marketing, Education & Teaching, Political Science, International
    Development or another relevant field;
  • Understanding
    of human and children rights issues at locally, nationally and
    internationally;
  • 2+
    years relevant work experience and 1+ years’ experience leading and
    managing a large team;
  • Ability
    to set and manage multiple team priorities;
  • Positive
    attitude and ability to work as a team player;
  • Experience
    and/or a natural ability in youth public speaking and/or facilitation;
  • Ability
    to multi-task and make decisions under pressure in a fast-paced working
    environment;
  • A
    self-starter, solution oriented with an ability to thrive with minimal
    supervision;
  • Excellent
    attention to detail;
  • Superior
    written and oral communication skills;
  • Experience
    working with and/or mentoring youth;
  • Experience
    working with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
    Outlook, Publisher) and CRM systems;
  • Drivers
    License a requirement
