Force of Nature is a non-profit organization working to stop fossil fuel
expansion and promote climate solutions throughout the Lower Mainland of
British Columbia. We are seeking a passionate and experienced field

organizer
to build volunteer teams in the Tri-Cities area who will work together to
engage local constituents on stopping the Kinder Morgan pipeline, advocating
for improvements in municipal bylaws, and support the election of strong
environmental leaders in the 2016 provincial election.

Job-Type: 30-35 hours per week, flexible hours (includes some evenings and
weekends)

Location: Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquiltam and Vancouver

Closing Date: September 19th, 2016

Starting Date: September 26th, 2016 or as soon as possible.

Job Description: Reporting to the Director, the candidate will work closely
with the Vancouver / Burnaby Field Organizer and local constituents in the
Tri-Cities to:
• Co-create campaign plans and set goals for volunteer recruitment and
supporter acquisition targets for the duration of the campaign.
• Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteer teams in the Tri-Cities who will
execute Force of Nature campaigns, particularly via door-to-door canvassing
• Organize weekly canvassing shifts, and identify and execute other
opportunities for engaging constituents in target municipalities.
• Organize monthly organizing meetings to engage constituents in campaign
planning and implementation.
• Identify, develop, and escalate leadership prospects among the volunteer base
who are willing partner with you to supervise canvas shifts, manage campaign
activities and develop the organization.
• Ensure ongoing training of volunteers and supporters as required by the
campaign.
• Conduct ongoing phonebanking of constituents and volunteer prospects as
required by the campaign.
• Assist with planning and implementation of special events.

Required Skills:
• Knowledge, passion and experience around environmental and political issues,
ability to learn and develop your understanding of complex concepts on an
ongoing basis. A sincere desire to affect progressive change is also required.
• Self direction, creativity, and the ability to develop outcome-oriented plans
with explicit goals, targets and metrics. Willingness to experiment, challenge
yourself, learn from failure and and in order to achieve explicit outcomes.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, ability to work in
and develop a team, strong verbal communication skills and the ability to
mentor and train others.
• Experience working in political or environmental campaigns is required;
experience working in an electoral campaign setting is preferred. (Both paid or
volunteer work experience will be considered)
• Must be mobile and work evenings and weekends
