eight week job to work with our urban agriculture team in our demonstrations,
which include our outdoor gardens, greenhouse, composting system . This

Note: This is an HRSDC supported position. Applicants must be 30 years of age
or under, currently attending school full-time and returning to school
full-time in the fall and legally able to work in Canada, off campus. *

Responsibilities

- Support
the creation and maintenance, which includes planting, weeding and
watering, of fertile and beautiful food growing spaces for strong, healthy
fruit and vegetable growing - Participate
in creating educational signage for all aspects of our food growing - Support
our weekly community garden evenings by creating garden-based crafts for
our outdoor garden and greenhouse - Support
the facilitation of workshops - Support
the recruitment and retention of volunteers at FoodShare in the outdoor
garden and greenhouse - Track
the food growing process in our garden and greenhouse and other related
admin duties - Participate
in FoodShare staff and team meetings. - Represent
FoodShare and its mission in the community;
Qualifications
- Has
experience and vision in organic food growing practices - Able
to lift heavy items, wield a shovel and has stamina - Able
and willing to work outdoors in all weather - Demonstrated
ability to take initiative and self manage - Strong
desire to learn - Demonstrated
ability in working with and managing volunteers - Skills
and experience in leading children and adults in activities - Skills
in computer word processing such as Microsoft Word, Excel and internet
usage - Commitment
and desire to work in a diverse environment where diversity based on race,
ethnic origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and
expression, physical ability, family status and other characteristics is
an important and practiced value; - Second
language an asset
Hours
and Compensation: 33
hrs for a total of 264 hrs (8 weeks) at $14/hr
