Evergreen
is seeking a Program Assistant to support the delivery of our Seeding Healthy
Communities program activities across Metro Vancouver this summer. The
successful candidate will provide hands-on coordination and delivery of a
variety of projects focused primarily on youth and senior engagement, with
strong links to food literacy and urban food growing. This position involves
working with diverse community partners and social service providers, as well
as marginalized youth, seniors, newcomers, aboriginal community members, and
people living with chronic mental illness.

candidates must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of
employment, registered as a full-time student in the preceding academic year
and intending to return to school on a full-time basis in fall 2016, and
legally entitled to work in Canada. Candidates must also be a Canadian Citizen,
permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred
under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

- Collaborate
with community partners in planning, coordinating and delivering community
food programs throughout Metro Vancouver (i.e. gardening and kitchen
workshops, harvest celebrations, etc.) - Communicate
with and support key program partners - Participate
in outreach and networking activities, including presentations, meetings
and community events - Assist
with development of outreach materials, program resources and evaluation
tools - Participate
in the orientation, training and support of program interns and/or
volunteers - Perform
other duties as assigned
You
have:

- Post-secondary
studies in community development, environmental studies, health promotion,
education, or related discipline - Minimum
1 year relevant work experience - Experience
and comfort collaborating with diverse individuals and communities,
including youth, seniors, newcomers, and people from a variety of
socio-economic and cultural backgrounds - Interest
in and understanding of food security, organic gardening, urban
agriculture, health and nutrition - Enthusiasm
for working outdoors in all kinds of weather - A
flexible schedule, including the ability to work some evenings and
weekends - A
valid driver’s license, First Aid/CPR and FoodSafe Training an asset
