Electrostatics

What is Electrostatics?
Electroststics is the study of
the behaviour of electric charges that are separated by friction between
insulating materials. This phenomenon is referred to as static electricity.
Although static electricity is
often no more than an annoyance encountered as a result of the electric charge
separation that takes place when a shoe leather is rubbed against a carpet
(particularly when air is dry), it is interesting to note that the behaviour of
capacitance in electric circuits is based on the principle of electrostatics
demonstrated by Charles Coulomb some 200 years ago.
