Job Description
IBIS – a Danish INGO operating in Ghana since 2001 – is seeking a Programme Advisor with experience in Education to work with its Education for Empowerment (EfE) programme. The position is based in Tamale with extensive travel in the country, especially the 3 Northern Regions and Brong Ahafo, and Burkina Faso. IBIS promotes interface between civil society organisations and government and the Programme Advisor will be required to have experienced in this area. The ability to speak French would also be an advantage. This senior post is both an exciting and challenging position and offers a unique opportunity for the right individual to make a significant impact in furthering the strategic development of this successful programme, combining technical knowledge of education and practical development work.
The Role:
• Provide critical support to the Education Programme Director to lead and manage the Education team, including providing advice and support in the development and implementation of IBIS’ Education policies, plans and programme activities
• Support EfE partners to provide continuous professional development of teachers and facilitators
• Provide direction and strategic guidance to capacity-building and teacher-training activities
• Consolidate and standardize the contents of the various teacher-training modules which the Education programme offers
• Support partner organisations and staff to develop, conduct and assess all aspects of the training programme and materials to ensure effectiveness and relevance
• Support Programme Facilitators and partners in conducting partner assessment and in reviewing partnership develop plans
• Provide technical support for the implementation of a joint Education project in Burkina Faso in the area of teachers’ professional development

Required Skills or Experience
The Requirements:
• Trained teacher + university degree or degree in Education. In each case + at least four years teaching experience
• At least two years experience in development work
• Knowledge of the Education sector in Ghana
• Training and capacity building experience
• Gender sensitivity in programme development
• Budget management
• Ability to work independently within a team
• Ability to speak and write French would be desirable
