The
successful applicant will address the issues identified in the main project, ‘Value Politics: The role of religion in internationalrelations’. Value Politics addresses the construction of religion in
relation to the United Nations, both in terms of the new emphasize on religion
from the 1990s onwards as well as a broader historical approach to religion at
the United Nations. The project aim is to delineate what counts as ‘religious’
and trace the changing meaning and scope of religion as it is construed within
political discourse and put to practice in local settings around the world.

and/or interviews in New York, Geneva or relevant national contexts. The
project should explore how new conceptions of religion are negotiated in
relation to one of the following three particularly controversial topics:

Requirements
- A
Master’s degree or equivalent in history of religions or other relevant
disciplines. - The
Master’s Degree has to have been awarded by the time of application.
Candidates who have already obtained a PhD degree or submitted a PhD
thesis in a similar field will not be considered for this fellowship.
