As
Executive Director, the key responsibilities of the position cover the full
range of program and administrative oversight in each of the following areas:
Executive Director, the key responsibilities of the position cover the full
range of program and administrative oversight in each of the following areas:
- program
leadership: develop, lead, implement and report on conservation and other
programs within the mandate, vision and strategic directions of the
organization; - fundraising:
develop and implement an annual fundraising plan based on strong and
effective donor relationships; lead the development of funding proposals;
and, serve as the primary contact for funders for frequent updates and
accountability for program outcomes; - relationships
and marketing: provide leadership in communicating and promoting the
organization’s programs and services both internally among other chapters
and national office and outside the organization with stakeholders, the
media, government and non-government organisations and the general public; - financial
administration and reporting: oversee the financial health of the
organization and the efficient administration of its programs within the
annual budget; - management:
supervise staff and promote an efficient working environment that serves
to attract and maintain a vibrant and productive workforce; oversee the
safe and efficient operation of the CPAWS Yukon office; and, regularly
meet with and report to the Board of Directors; and, - organizational
development: ensure the effective flow of information within the
organization to build commitment, unity and enthusiasm for the growth and
development of the organization among staff, directors and the general
membership; and, build and maintain effective liaison with funders,
government (e.g. First Nation, federal, territorial, municipal) and
non-government organisations, and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- extensive
knowledge of and experience in the conservation sector; - demonstrated
leadership skills that are energetic, mission-driven and passionate; - commitment
to, and experience in, team work internally as well as with coalitions
with other groups and organizations; - respect
for, and commitment to, building and maintaining First Nations partnership
relationships; - strong
communications skills including strong public speaking and media
interaction skills, and strong writing skills for development of program
proposals and reports; - demonstrated
successful experience in fundraising and management of fluctuating
budgets; - capacity
and experience to work effectively without direct supervision; - strong
and successful experience in organizational management and board
relationships; - experience
in personnel management of professional staff; and, - education
and experience that supports effective communication and respect among
stakeholders and in the conservation field.

position is a full time position based on a 37.5 hour work week but requiring a
flexible schedule. The position is based in the Whitehorse office and requires
travel to communities throughout the Yukon and on occasion to meetings outside
Yukon. A salary and benefits package is commensurate with senior management
positions in the NGO sector.
