Centre for Justice Studies and Innovations (CJSI) District Justice for Children Coordinators Jobs Vacancies in Uganda

The Justice for Children Project 2011-2013 is an innovative “proof of concept” project initiated by the Justice, Law and Order Sector to improve system outcomes for children at risk or those affected by violence. The Project, funded by UNICEF Uganda, is implemented by the Centre for Justice Studies and Innovations (CJSI) in the districts of Mbale, Fort Portal, Nwoya, Kitgum, Amuru, Pader, Agago and Lamwo. The Project envisages improvements in the legislative, policy and structural operating environment; practice improvements through duty bearer adherence to due process standards; and development of a strong non state actor constituency- inclusive Of children- to monitor government performance and service delivery for children in the justice system.

District Justice for Children Coordinators
The Centre for Justice Studies and Innovations (CJSl) is recruiting eight (8) Justice for Children Coordinators to support District Chain Linked Committees (DCCs) in the above regions.. The overall responsibilities and duties of each Justice for Children Coordinator will include the following:
a. Conduct a rapid assessment to establish the status of children in the justice system in accordance with agreed upon J4C Results Framework;
b. Engage the DCCs to identify practice challenges; possible solutions and to develop a results-based action plan in response to the status of children;
c. Facilitate and steer the implementation of the Action Plan;
d. Engage in practice advocacy with the JLOS institutions at the district level comprising the DCC;
e. Link the J4C process on the ground with the J4C Steering Committee, JLOS institutions and Management structures at national level;
f. Facilitate intra program dialogue;
g. Provide technical support and back up to the District Chain Linked Committees; h. Supervise and monitor the J4C Results Roll Out.

Job requirement

Qualifications:
Applicants should have at least a minimum of a Masters’ degree in law or its equivalent with at least 4 years of work experience in a justice administration related area. They must be team players, with excellent communication skills, be flexible, adaptable and most importantly innovative to respond to the challenges on the ground. Applicants should be able to won’ under pressure, with minimal supervision and willing to work upcountry. Computer literacy is a must.
