The Catholic Diocese of Isiolo (Caritas Isiolo) received a grant from the EU
through CAFOD to implement Community Based Green Energy Project in Isiolo
Diocese.
The overall objective of the project will be to increase access to modern,
affordable and sustainable energy services for community institutions in rural
and peri-urban areas in the Diocese.
The Diocese is seeking to recruit qualified experienced persons to fill the
following positions
Community Based Green Energy Project Officer
1 Position
Key Responsibilities:
- To prepare and
review project activity and budget plans and ensure efficient budget
monitoring and activity implementation - To prepare
project progress and financial reports in consultation with the Accountant
and Development Coordinator - To visit and
monitor project activities, facilitate information sharing with target
communities and provide technical support to staff local communities - To facilitate
the recruitment of ICT volunteers in liaison with Diocesan management and
partners - To mobilize
and sensitize target communities to effectively participate in project
activities through sharing project goals, objectives and activities - To facilitate
easy access of Solar Works technical staff to communities for efficient
and successful installation of the solar systems and the training of local
artisans and technicians - Must be
articulate in the understanding of the Social Teachings of the Catholic
Church - Ensure
visibility of project activities is undertaken
Experience, Skills and Attributes required
- Have at least
a Degree Science in an Energy related field with a bias to project
planning and management or in any other related discipline. - Other related
short courses such as community development be an added advantage - Must have
experience of at least 2 years in project planning and implementation - Ability to
make sound and timely judgments - Strong
intellectual, analytical and decision making abilities - Must be
computer literate, conversant with operations software - Should have
good writing and communication skills - Must be
articulate in the understanding of the Social Teachings of the Catholic
Church
Mobilizer
1 Position
Responsibilities
- To mobilize
and sensitize target communities to effectively participate in project
activities - To facilitate
target communities to develop beneficiary selection criteria - To work
jointly with the Project Officer and elected community leaders to
facilitate the distribution of solar systems in a transparent and
accountable manner - Facilitate
beneficiaries to establish and run committees and maintenance funds - To mobilize
target communities to effectively participate in the project baseline survey - Liaising with
stakeholders at the local level to support in building of synergies - To maintain
records of trained artisans/technicians, Trainers of Users and beneficiaries
distribution lists for different solar systems - To work with
the trained local artisans and technicians and ensure effective
maintenance services for solar systems are provided on a timely basis - To prepare
activity reports and share with the Project Officer
Experience, Skills and Attributes required
- A Bachelors
Degree in Social Work/degree in
agriculture, environmental science, education, BA in sociology. - At least 3
years relevant experience - Proficiency
with Microsoft Office software will be an added advantage - Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills - High level of
attention to details in all aspects of work responsibilities - Ability to
work as a member of a team and to perform a variety of tasks
simultaneously - The ability to
work on their own with minimal supervision across multiple projects - Should be
articulate in the understanding of the Social Teachings of the Catholic
Church
