Cardiff Business School PhD Bursaries in Economics, UK

Cardiff University is offering PhD Bursaries in
economics on a competitive basis. These bursaries are generously
funded by the Cardiff Business School and various external sources.
Scholarships are open to all students of any nationality (UK/EU and International).
Applicants must have a first-class or very good upper second Honours degree (or
equivalent), and a Masters degree (or equivalent) with an average mark of at
least 65%. Bursaries cover full UK/EU tuition fees or partial-to-full overseas
fees for four years and a further £750 over the duration of the PhD for
research training support and field work. The application deadline
is 21 February 2014.

Scholarship Description: Cardiff Business School has an active Economics PhD Programme with
around 45 current students, and more than 20 faculty active in research.
Financing is available from a variety of funding sources and is awarded on a
competitive basis. Our programme involves two years of course
work, the first at the MSc Economics level in core subjects. The MSc programme,
while open to others, is focused on those who are planning to continue in the
PhD programme. The second year MRes Advanced Economics programme includes
advanced study in the core areas of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Labour
Economics, Econometrics and Numerical Methods, plus a variety of elective
fields including Monetary Economics, Monetary Policy, International
Macroeconomics, Development Economics, Macro econometrics, Public Finance,
Finance, and Mathematical Finance.

‘Research Proposal’ section of the application form (approx 500 words) to set
out their doctoral thesis and project in summary. They should use the ‘Personal
Statement’ section (approx 500 words) of the application form to set out their
academic background and interests and their reasons for wanting to pursue
postgraduate research study.
