C V Raman International Fellowship for African Researchers in India

FICCI, on behalf of Department of Science &
Technology is inviting applications for C V Raman International Fellowship
for African Researchers. The Fellowship provides opportunities to conduct
collaborative research / training at universities and research institutions in
India. Three types of fellowships Post Doctoral Fellowship, Visiting
fellowship and Senior Fellowship for 6 months, 3 months and 1 moth duration
respectively are offered. The applicant should be actively engaged in research
at a university or research institution in the African country. Application
should be submitted till August 31, 2013.

Study Subject(s): Fellowship is offered for collaborative research with leading
research groups in Indian universities and R&D institutions in areas of Sci
& Tech.
Course Level: This scholarship is available for pursuing research
/ training program.
Scholarship Provider: Fellowships are offered by the Department of
Science & Technology (DST) and Ministry of External Affairs(MEA),
Government of India through the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce&
Industry (FICCI).

Eligibility: The applicant should be actively engaged in research at a university or
research institution in the African country and should meet the following
eligibility criteria for each of the three categories:
-Post Doctoral Fellowship : Ph.D
-Visiting Fellowship : Ph.D / M.Tech / M.Sc. (Engg / Technical) or 4 to 6 years
research / teaching experience
-Senior Fellowship : Senior Experts / Scientists / Professors

Scholarship Open for International Students: The students of Africa can apply for this fellowship.

Scholarship Description: The Department of Science & Technology (DST) and Ministry of
External Affairs(MEA), Government of India through the Federation of Indian
Chambers of Commerce& Industry (FICCI), have launched the prestigious C V
Raman International Fellowship programme for African Researchers in 2010 to
provide them opportunity to conduct collaborative research with leading
research groups in Indian universities and R&D institutions in areas of
Science & Technology.The objective of this Fellowship is to provide
opportunity for African researchers to conduct collaborative research in
various areas of science and technology in different Indian universities and
R&D institutions under guidance of host scientists in India. The programme
allows such African researchers to advance their own research capabilities
while contributing to the progress of research in India. Federation of
Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) is the ‘Coordinating Partner’
for C V Raman International Fellowship Programme. FICCI, on behalf of
Department of Science & Technology, invites applications from African
researchers for the award of the Fellowship.

Duration of award(s): Three types of fellowships Post Doctoral Fellowship, Visiting
fellowship and Senior Fellowship for 6 months, 3 months and 1 moth duration
respectively.

What does it cover? Sustenance Allowance
-Post Doctoral Fellowship : Rs 40,000/- per month including accommodation, food
and local travel expenses
-Visiting Fellowship : “Rs 50,000/- per month including accommodation, food and
local travel expenses”
-Senior Fellowship : Rs 50,000/- per month + accommodation (accommodation in
host institute’s guest house with reasonable facilities / hotel with a cap of
Rs 2500 per day).
-Contingency Grant :To cover unforeseen expenses relating to lab/field
research, books, stationeries, medicines and other miscellaneous expenses, if
any
-Post Doctoral Fellowship : Rs 20,000/
-Visiting Fellowship : Rs 10,000/-
-Senior Fellowship : Rs 10000 + local travel grant(upto max.Rs.30000)
-Air Fare : A round trip air ticket by economy class.

Notification: Selection / acceptance letters will be sent to all successful candidates
after the final announcement of the selection committee. Names of fellowship
awardees along with their respective host researchers and institutions, along
with their research themes will also be posted
on www.indiafrica-sti.in , www.indoafrica-cvrf.in , DST
website (www.dst.gov.in) and FICCI website (www.ficci.com).

How to Apply: Applications may be submitted online, via e-mail to
scholars-at-ficci.com or by post to FICCI, New Delhi, India. Application
process is as follows :
-Step 1: Applicant registers online or Downloads the application form
-Step 2: Applicant arranges all necessary documents (mentioned below)
required for application
-Step 3: Applicant establishes contact with his / her prospective host
scientist in India and secures an official consent letter from the concerned
Indian host institute
-Step 4: Applicant submits his / her application to FICCI, through any of
the modes – online / email / hard copy

Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is August 31, 2013.

Note : Selected applicants are required to
finalize their duration of stay in India from Jan/Feb 2014 onwards under this
fellowship in consultation with their respective host scientists and promptly
inform FICCI through email at scholars-at-ficci.com.
