Reporting
to the Farm Manager, you will be responsible for the co-ordination of technical
activities across our worksites. The ideal candidate will have held a similar
role and possess previous experience in horticulture, ideally in orchard
growing. Excellent interpersonal skills and outgoing confident manner will
compliment your experience.

Your
primary scope of responsibilities will include:

- Manage
the collection and reporting of technical data across the farm. - Facilitate
the development and implementation of greater use of Information
Technology across the orchards, and co-ordinate the training of staff in
the use of this technology. - Assist
with the management and co-ordination of trial work. - Manage
the evaluation of plantation conditions to meet all orchard needs and
assist with the implementation of the farm programs, maximizing tree
growth and crop performance. - Manage
plant growth monitoring and the horticultural program, highlight issues
which could improve production and quality and reduce expenses, and where
possible introduce changes within the business. - Adhere
to conditions within contracts, permits, licenses and reports and ensure
all are being met. - Ensure
all facets of the Farm Training, Occupational Health &
Safety/Environment and Quality Assurance are adhered to. - Perform
out of normal hours and weekend work as necessary or as directed by the
Farm Manager. - Identify
and evaluate plantation conditions, implement appropriate measures to
ensure that horticultural best practices are achieved. - Assist
Operations in the effective and efficient management and implementation of
technical programs and practices under the direction of the Farm Manager
and external scientist / Ag Consultant.
Qualification
Required:
Required:
- Diploma
of Agriculture - Strong
written and verbal skills. - Current
first aid certificate - Excellent
working knowledge of Microsoft office and associated applications,
computers and email. - Current
driver’s Licence / tractor driving skills - Knowledge
of soil moisture monitoring equipment, pH testing, EC testing, monitoring
pest and disease, carrying out ElL calculations for pest management,
conducting site audit for compliance. - Pro-active
- Excellent
organisational skills - Aus-Chem
Certification - Experience
in management of irrigation, fertigation systems. - Knowledge
of the growth physiology of apples and other horticultural crops is
advantageous. - Horticultural
experience would be advantageous but not essential.
