Overview Of
Responsibilities:
- Provide
leadership, oversight and appropriate training for all staff members of
Bududa Learning Center (BLC). - Work
with the accountant to see that the budget is properly being implemented. - Work
with the store’s manager to see that the contents are properly being
recorded and accounted for. - Ensure
timely and good quality quarterly reports are prepared, reviewed, and
presented to Bududa Canada Foundation (BCF). - Implement
the ongoing “The Three Year Sustainability Plan” in
collaboration with BLC staff and BCF. - Maintain
regular communication with the Executive Director (ED) of BLC. - Oversee
social media - Plan
and support income generating activities
Specific
Tasks
- Act
as the Assistant Director, while reporting to the Executive Director (ED)
of the Bududa Learning Center (BLC) and Chairperson of the Bududa Canada
Foundation (BCF), in terms of the overall running of the center. This
entails being the “eyes and ears on the ground” in Bududa. - Budget:
Work with the accountant to see that the budget is properly being
implemented. - Incoming
Generating Projects: Plan and implement short, medium and long term income
generating projects for the BLC with a view to decreasing dependence on
Western donors and increasing sustainability. This would be in close
collaboration with staff in Bududa and the BCF Board of Directors. - Staff
Meetings: Oversee regular staff meetings for Bududa Vocational Academy
(BVA), Children of Bududa (COB) and Bududa Learning Center (BLC). Train
someone to act as recording secretary to take minutes and distribute in a
timely fashion, including to the Executive Director, BCF Board of
Directors and Ugandan Advisory Board of BLC. Make sure they include a
follow up action plan; monitor progress of plan. - Report
Writing: Report writing for Bududa Canada Foundation (BCF). Train and
supervise the Bududa Vocational Academy Principal, as well as the Children
of Bududa (COB) Director and Social Worker to write good quality quarterly
reports according to protocols to be set up. Make sure they are delivered
on time. - Social
Media: Maintain Facebook Page and website in order to help promote the
organization while identifying opportunities for fundraising. - Store
management: Work with the store’s manager to see that the contents are
properly being recorded and accounted for. - Annual
Inventory: Oversee annual inventory. - Staff
Conduct: Provide leadership to the staff of both Bududa Vocational Academy
(BVA) and Children of Bududa (COB) Program in terms of setting and
enforcing professional standards in the areas of punctuality, reporting
absences and late arrivals to the BVA Principal and/or COB Director. - Security
Protocol: With Bududa Vocational Academy, set up a system and protocol for
the security, maintenance and use of all equipment; in particular for the
electric carpentry machinery and hand tools. - Professional
Development Progress Reports: Monitor and provide quarterly reports to
Bududa Canada Board (BCF) on the status of each teacher, staff person who
is actively doing professional development. This should include relevant
academic and financial information. - Provide
guidance and accountability for staff in the establishment and
implementation of the “Three Year Plan” for BLC, including
details for year one, two and three. The purpose of which is to allow for
an on-going evaluation of our center’s longer term goals and vision. They
will require input from the Bududa staff as well as the BCF Board of
Directors. - Community
Presence: Establish contact with the community at large: community
leaders, local politicians, local schools and heads of churches.
