An opportunity exists for an experienced
lawyer to join our in-house legal team. It will be a broad role
and will involve providing legal services to the Commission, senior
management, corporate and project teams.

What you’ll be doing
Responsibilities in this challenging role will
include:

- Drafting
amendments to the national energy rules; - Providing
legal advice, facilitating consideration and understanding of
options and legal implications on policy matters to inform decision
making; - Statutory
interpretation - Conducting
legal reviews of briefings and decision making documents for the
Commission to ensure legally compliant outcomes; and - Undertaking
compliance tasks and corporate legal work to support the governance and
operation of the AEMC.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for candidates with:
- A
current NSW practicing certificate (or appropriate eligibility); - At
least 3 years’ post admission experience preferably in a role advising on
statutory interpretation, administrative law and governance matters; - Demonstrated
knowledge of, or an interest and willingness to acquire knowledge about
the national energy markets; - Demonstrated
written and oral communication skills; - Judgment,
flexibility and foresight with a strong service orientation; - The
ability to work well in a close team environment; and - Demonstrated
analytical skills with an ability to understand complex subject matters
quickly.
