is the voice of Can

ada’s universities at home and abroad. We provide a forum
for discussion and a framework for action at the federal level, facilitating
the development of public policy on higher education. We also encourage cooperation
among universities and among partners with whom we share interests. We are a
non-governmental, not-for-profit association, funded through membership fees
and revenues from publications and contract management services. We are
currently seeking a web editor for our publications division.
The University Affairs magazine – both print
and online (www.universityaffairs.ca)
– has a high degree of independence for an association magazine. It offers news,
columns, opinion articles and feature stories on a wide range of topics of
interest to faculty, administrators and graduate students. It also carries the
country’s most comprehensive career advertising for faculty and administrative
personnel at Canadian universities, with more than 200 jobs in every issue and
job ads posted daily online. The magazine is published 10 times a year by the
Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada. The website is supplemented
with content devoted to helping academic personnel in their career development
and includes four blogs, podcasts and video.

Reporting to the
editor of University Affairs, the
incumbent is responsible for coordinating and creating content, creating new
services and maximizing the use of the University
Affairs’ website, in particular the careers section of the site that
includes content (expert articles, blogs, podcasts, video and other new
services) about career development for three groups: graduate students and
postdoctoral fellows, early career faculty and university administrators. The
incumbent acts as editor for the site, solicits new ideas and career-related
content from the university community, assigns and edits stories from
freelancers and develops new initiatives to enhance and raise the profile of
the site. The incumbent advises the editor and the division on emerging web
technologies and services to keep the online magazine current and fresh. He

Education
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in
communications or journalism, combined with courses in Web publishing or

This one-year
term position has a hiring salary range of $63,118 to $72,547, commensurate
with experience. AUCC offers a
