JOB DUTIES:
Plays a central role in developing and writing foundation funding letters of support, concept papers, proposals and reports for individual schools and faculty, as well as forging interdisciplinary fundraising relationships across campus, including satellite campuses associated with GW.
Establishes effective working relationships with department heads, faculty and administrative staff of the University and builds a thorough understanding of systems for proposal submissions, including routing proposals through Sponsored Research.
Demonstrates prospect research skills and the ability to develop foundation fundraising strategies that leverages individual and joint project support among Deans and faculty from diverse disciplines.
Leverages university leadership, Deans and faculty to implement effective stewardship strategies for current and lapsed donors, and cultivation strategies for new prospects.
Travels regionally to conduct gift solicitations.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and 3 years of appropriate experience.
Professional fund raising experience and/or comparable experience in public relations, higher education or business administration, to include at least one year of experience in fund raising activities. Solid verbal and written communication skills. Good organizational and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with a personal computer, and such software Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Familiarity with funding databases is a plus. Some graduate level coursework.
