BASED DUNDEE
RATE: £110 – £170 PER/DAY
The Role The Applications Programmer has a strategic role, providing consultancy services on the design, development and maintenance of IT solutions, in both educational and administrative contexts. Using and advising on all types of IT technologies in support core educational priorities and business needs.
Key areas of responsibility:
• Development of complex and innovative software for further education/evaluation/business needs, including systems needing 24*7 access from the Internet community.
• Provide a source of expertise in Web technologies and advise on their adoption to meet educational and business needs.
• Plan strategically for implementation and rollout of services – working to set development timeframes. Project-manage implementation and rollout to ensure access to the full range of functionality. Advise stakeholders on application or adaptation of developments to meet their needs.
• Ensuring design is compliant with guidelines on accessibility.
• Single point of expertise to advise project sponsors on appropriate and innovative technical solutions to business needs.
• Delivery of unscheduled interventions in response to project issues – troubleshooting project difficulties.
Candidates with the following qualification and/or experience will be ideally suited for the post:
• Good development skills: C#, ASP.NET and SQL Server.
• Honours degree + Postgraduate qualification in an Information management/Technology (or equivalent).
• Strong analytical and abstraction skills.
• Considerable specialist experience in advanced systems design.
• Experience of communicating and influencing at senior level.
• Project management, experience of giving presentations at local/national/international levels.
• Team building within programming staff.
• Delivery of training with developed applications/systems.
