Nutrition Expert,
Rwanda – Part Time

Agri-Taf

The Agriculture
Technical Assistance Facility (Agri-TAF) is a four-year DFID funded programme
based in Rwanda, with a strong focus on increasing agriculture productivity,
which is sustainable and benefits the poor. We are looking for a strong key
expert with a background in nutrition to jo

in the team. Travel will be required
to Rwanda once a quarter but the majority of the work can be desk based. This
will be a role requiring circa 50 days per year.

General professional
experience:

  • At
    least 10 years proven experience working with designing, implementing
    and/or evaluating nutrition related donor-funded programmes/projects in
    developing countries. Experience in Africa and preferably in Rwanda will
    be seen as an advantage

Specific
professional experience:

  • Demonstrable
    experience in validating research and scoping out strategies which focus
    on the production of nutritious food
  • Experience
    of working with the Ministries of both Health and Agriculture will be a
    distinct advantage
  • A skill
    set in creating and implementing performance indicators together with
    providing and conducting training is required
  • Proven
    experience with assessing and strengthening institutional, organisational
    and technical capacity in food and nutrition management in the public
    sector
  • Proven
    experience with designing and/or implementing nutrition sensitive programs
    in the agricultural sector;
  • Proven
    experience in designing and implementing community based nutrition
    programs
  • Proven
    experience in facilitating the implementation of communication and
    advocacy strategies for effective nutrition communication
  • Proven
    professional experience with developing policies, strategies, approaches
    and gender mainstreaming in donor-funded programs and projects in particular
    in the agricultural sector

Qualifications and
skills:

  • Masters’
    degree in food science, public health, nutrition, agriculture, or relevant
    social sciences with expertise in nutrition issues
  • Demonstrated
    experience in working in the Public Sector
  • International
    Development Experience
  • Relevant
    Donor Experience (ideally DFID)
  • Fluency
    in both written and spoken English
