A position is available for an experienced General Physician seeking an
opportunity to provide general medicine and cardiology (non-interventional)
services in a rural environment. Come and join our team of 14 General
Physicians covering cardiology, nephrology, rheumatology, medical and radiation
oncology, haematology, neurology, gastroenterology, rehabilitation and
endocrinology. There are additional FACEM and FICM consultants covering acute
presentations to the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit.
An Ideal Position! The position includes:
- General
Medicine services to inpatients of Tamworth Hospital - Privately
referred outpatient consultancy services from your own private rooms - Participation
in the after hours General Medicine on-call / call-back roster - Potential
to conduct clinics in nearby centres.
Tamworth
Hospital has 288 beds and is the major Rural Referral Hospital providing
services to the north west of NSW. Tamworth Hospital provides a high level of
surgical and medical services including a diagnostic cardiac catheter
laboratory. Tamworth is a teaching hospital for the Bachelor of Medicine,
University of Newcastle and the Joint Medical Program, University of New
England. This offers excellent teaching and research opportunities. Tamworth is
well serviced by junior medical staff across the general medicine unit
(including 8 JMO’s and 7 RACP trainees) with the opportunity for this to grow!

A $220 million acute services hospital redevelopment
is currently underway due for completion in May 2015. The facility is built
with future growth in mind and involves 5 of the 8 new multipurpose operating
theatres in use. This compliments the newly completed Regional Cancer Centre
now in operation, providing integrated cancer care services including medical and
radiation oncology
