RBC / VPDD Accountant Job Vacancy in Kigali, Rwanda

Position : Accountant

Main purpose of the job :
The main purpose of this job is to facilitate efficient and effective financial administration and management of all funds of various VPDD projects and programs other related responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time

Duties and responsibilities
1. To manage and administer all the funds of VPDD projects and programs in accordance with the existing RBC financial rules and regulations and also the donor specific financial disbursement and reporting guidelines 2. Validate payment vouchers, checks, local purchase orders for all transactions relating to various VPDD projects and programs and as well as other relevant expenditures ;
3. Follow up of all transactions related to international ;
4. Prepare and follow up of vaccines from outside the country ;
5. Prepare and follow up of staff payments ;
6. Maintain regular and timely accounting records and prepare weekly ; monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
7. Assist officers of various VPDD units to prepare budgets for the activities requested ;
8. Monitor the expenditure of funds of the VPDD projects and programs with a view to ensuring that the amounts budgeted for , under each expenditure head, is not exceeded ;
9. Prepare annual budgets and financial reports/statements of the various VPDD units in liaison with the technical officers of the various VPDD units for presentation to the RBC direction ;
10. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time by the RBC senior Projects Accountant and the RBC Director of Finance.

Qualification and experience
1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Management , Accounting or equivalent from a recognized University
2. Relevant working experience of not less than 3 years preferably in donor-funded heath projects and program

Skills and competencies
Must be proficient in various Computerized Financial Management information Systems such as sage and others. Good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work in multi-cultural environment and ability to plan and manage own work, including managing conflicting priorities of assignment, self motivated with ability to work with minimum supervision
