GR seeks a full-time Cashier and Logistics Officer to work in its office in Kigali.

Founded in 2004, Generation Rwanda, formerly Orphans of Rwanda, is dedicated to helping orphans and other socially vulnerable young people in Rwanda pursue a university education and ultimately become leaders in fostering economic development and social reconciliation. GR provides holistic support – including tuition, housing, healthcare and a range of supplemental training programs – to ensure that its students are prepared to excel. Our 120 students attend leading universities across Rwanda and specialize in disciplines including business, health, law and engineering. Job description :
The cashier will report to the Accountant and Administrative Officer and will be based in Kigali. The main activities and responsibilities of the Cashier and Logistics Officer will be as follows:
1.Make payments as per approved payment vouchers and payment orders
2.Maintain regular and accurate accounts of all income, expenditures and other financial transfers or transactions
3.Manage petty cash accounts and produce daily and weekly cash reports
4.Make and track approved disbursements for students’ needs, including monthly living allowance, tuition payments and rent for group houses
5.Ensure that all financial disbursements are made within approved budget limits
6.Make and track approved disbursements to GR partners, vendors, and government entities
7.Any other duties assigned by his/her supervisor
Qualifications
GR desires a candidate who is enthusiastic about working in an exciting, rapidly growing organization that is dedicated to results.
Required
•Secondary school certificate in accounting, commerce, economics and related disciplines with at least 2 years of relevant experience
•Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda (knowledge of French is preferred but not required)
•Experience with MS Excel and Word and an ability to learn new computer programs
•Petty cash management, finance and accounting experience
•Ability to take initiative, work well under pressure, and carry out work independently
•Cross-cultural skills and demonstrated passion for education & social change
•Strong interpersonal skills, maturity and a sense of humor
•Driving License (Class B)
Preferred but not required
•Experience with using QuickBooks
