Background

The Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) is the world´s premier provider of high quality food security analysis and early warning. Created in response to the 1984 famines in East and West Africa, this $200 million, five-year activity (2012-2016) aims to collaborate with international, regional, and national partners to provide timely and rigorous early warning and analysis of potential, emerging, and/or evolving food security issues in order to inform appropriate humanitarian response. The project currently covers 31 countries, with plans to expand over the coming five-year phase.
To facilitate the implementation of its activities, FEWS NET Rwanda wishes to recruit one qualified and well experienced driver.

Position description/Scope of Work:
This is a support position. The main responsibilities are providing administrative support to the project; perform all driving and vehicle maintenance responsibilities for the project.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs all project deliveries and pick-ups
• Maintains vehicle mileage and fuel log books
• Responsible for overall maintenance and repair of vehicles
• Performs all other necessary driving duties
• Conducts banking including cash deposits/withdrawals, account inquiries and documentation requests
• Delivers payment to vendors
• Collects commodity quotations
• Purchases office supplies and maintains records of purchases
• Assists with photocopying, scanning, filing and report binding
• Responsible for general maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle
• Makes appointments, travel and hotel bookings and logistical arrangements
• Performs other administrative tasks assigned by supervisor to ensure efficient and smooth support to the project

JOB qualifications and requirements
• Preferably, A2 auto mechanics or related studies;
• At least 1 year´s practical relevant working experience with NGOs is an added value;
• Valid driving license class B;
• Mechanical skills Good communication and interpersonal skills;
• Availability for overtime work and field travel;
• Language: Good understanding of English, French knowledge is an advantage;
• Good physical health is required;
• Be a resident of Kigali.

The driver will work under the supervision of the National Technical Manager or his/her designate.
