Rwanda Men´s Resource Center (RWAMREC) is a non-government organization whose
aim is to address issues of negative masculinity, gender inequality,
promotion of healthy families, women´s rights and prevention of
gender-based violence and IIIV/AIDS, thus addressing other related
consequences.
RWAMRFC with the support from CARE Rwanda would like to solicit applications
from qualified, dynamic and highly motivated male candidates of high moral
character and professional integrity to fill the position of Field Officer for
capacity building in promoting positive masculine behaviors and men´s
engagement in promoting voluntary savings and loan schemes (vs1), men´s support
to family planning, reducing gender based violence, supporting literacy
initiatives as partners and allies to women. The two field officers will be
based in Southern Province of Rwanda at CARE Rwanda Hoye Sub-Office.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
the Field Officer will be responsible for:
– Participate in planning, coordination and Implementation of the ISARO program
field work for effective engagement amen in Voluntary Savings and Loan Schemes
in the southern province,
– Take part in conducting situational analysis in collaboration with the
existing VSL groups to determine the training needs wills the Male engage
focus,
– Train trainers and or supervise trainers during community training activities
on the ground
– Participate in identifying male trainees through VSL groups and organize
MenEngage approach training activities accordingly. Participate in adaptation
and utilization of the MenEngage training module,
– Take lead in organizing. and or supervising training for male trainers as
will be specified by RWAMREC and CARE,
– Provide backstopping to the training officers by supervising their training
activities in 77 sectors.
– Monitor the creation of community male groups to enhance self-reflection and
creation of free spaces for mutual support/influence to challenge the normative
male behaviors and gain women´s support in the change journey,
– Participate in monitoring sessions/meetings and provide regular feedback to
RWAMREC about field activities, and participate in coordination meetings at
community and national levels,
– Participate in the final project impact evaluation work and subsequent follow
on phases,
– Make periodic reports on mainstreaming male engagement activities of Isaro
program,
– Work closely and coaching Capacity Building Officers from CARE/VSL office in
Hoye.
– Work within an agreed work plan and conditions, and take lead in meeting
ISARO targets,
– Participate in impact evaluation and planning as required by the program
management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
– At least a Bachelor´s Degree in social sciences. Public Health, Community
Health, Education or any other relevant field. – At least 3 years of experience
in training in gender issues.
– Demonstrated capacity in community mobilization
– Experience in adult learning and mass mobilization.
– Varied experience in developing learning materials and delivering trainings
and other capacity building initiatives.
– Ability to maintain effective working relations both as a team member and
team leader and ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and
monitor own work plan.
– Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people in
communities.
– Excellent communication skills with demonstrated commitment to participatory
approaches.
– Excellent written and spoken in English, or French and Kinyarwanda.
– Ability to use ICI’ to access information and prepares reports.
– Ability to promote and market projects, producing a range of publicity
materials.
– Willingness to be based in one of the Southern Province District.
– Possess a driving permit (Category A).
